Frequently asked questions

What happens after the 14 days?+

The engagement automatically converts to a month-to-month lease at the rate we agreed upon before starting. If you choose not to continue, just let us know by Day 14 and you'll never see an invoice.

Who owns the code written during the pilot?+

You do. Our pilot agreement includes full IP assignment from day one. You keep everything your engineer creates, regardless of whether you continue the engagement.

What if I don't like the developer?+

We offer one free replacement where the 14-day clock resets with a new engineer. If the second match still isn't hitting your requirements, you can walk away with $0 owed.

What seniority levels are available for the pilot?+

Junior and Mid-Level roles are standard for the free pilot. If you need a Lead or Architect, we can arrange a paid trial at a discounted rate.

Do I need to sign a contract?+

Yes, but it's a lightweight 2-page Pilot Agreement, not a 40-page MSA. It covers IP ownership, NDAs, and the 14-day terms. It takes about 10 minutes to read.

How much timezone overlap will I get?+

Standard overlap is 4–5 hours with US business hours. If your team requires full US shift coverage or 8+ hours of sync, we can add that as a post-pilot upgrade.

What tools does the developer use?+

Yours. They don't use "DontHireDevs software." They join your Slack, Git, and project management tools (Jira, Linear, etc.) and adapt to your internal workflow.

Is there really no cost?+

Correct. We don't ask for a credit card or a deposit. If the pilot doesn't convert, you pay nothing. The first invoice is only generated on Day 15 if you choose to stay.
